Business Process Outsourcing

Business Process Outsourcing (commonly abbreviated to BPO) refers to the process whereby a company utilizes the services of a specialist third party company in order to manage a key business function.

This BPO can be undertaken for various reasons, most commonly it is instigated by the company outsourcing their business function so that they can save on costs. It may also occur if a company requires specialist help that they do not have the resources internally for, or if a company cannot allocate the right resources due to limited availability within the market.

In recruitment terms, BPO is often also referred to as RPO, see further details here for Recruitment Process Outsourcing.
