The Prudential Investment Company of Australia (PICA) is Australia’s largest strata management company with 750 staff, 15 subsidiary companies and over 30 branch offices on the East Coast of Australia. As an industry leader, they are redefining their customer experience with property management.
PICA’s recruitment is handled in house by their People and Culture team. Andrew Kim manages the recruitment function, alongside an assistant and business partners in each state to assist.
At any one time, PICA can have 30-45 open roles. Before JobAdder, managing this scale of vacancies was slow. The main headache on their previous system “was speed”, said Andrew Kim.
Posting jobs, evaluating candidates, shortlisting and filling roles was far too time-consuming to create a good candidate experience. The nature of their business has a high attrition rate, and managing this volume could take anywhere from 2-3 months to place, sometimes longer. “When you already have tasks in a recruitment process that takes some time, you want something that’s streamlined and makes your job easier. The program we were using previously made life more difficult.” highlighted Kim.
The JobAdder Solution
Coming from an agency background, Andrew Kim has used JobAdder at 3 different companies. Of the differences between using JobAdder in an agency environment versus corporate, Kim said, in-house recruitment is more meticulous than at an agency; taking notes at each step of the process in order to utilise JobAdder as a database is really important. The information that is put into the system initially, will dictate the quality of the information of the output.
PICA set up their hiring framework by building templates and customising JobAdder to suit their hiring workflow. Of the implementation process Kim advised, “to set up templates wasn’t time-consuming, but it was a process to go through, now we have everything up and running, and we haven’t looked back.”
In addition to taking advantage of free new user training, PICA booked JobAdder’s personalised paid Advanced User Training session. The trainer travelled to the PICA offices and was able to identify and tailor the training to PICA’s needs. Their company specific hiring process could also be customised and reflected in JobAdder which allowed anyone to log in, quickly see where each role was up to and then communicate that to the relevant hiring managers as needed.
From 2-3+ months to being as quick as 1 week, JobAdder fits in with PICA’s internal processes. The note-keeping capabilities, simple job posting and shortlisting has sped up the process, said Kim.
