This is a very telling monthly productivity metric.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>GP\/income producer:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This is similar to the metric above but you only divide by the number of staff who are income producers (those involved in generating sales).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>GP multiple\/income producer remuneration:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In this KPI, you divide your total GP by the total of your income producers\u2019 salaries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Temp and contract GP\/total GP:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> According to Greg, your recruitment agency should have at least 50% of its GP from temporary operations. But he stresses that this shouldn\u2019t mean a decrease in permanent recruitment GP. For example, KPIs can tell you that you get more qualified candidates from social media like LinkedIn, rather than job boards, so you can put more resources into prospecting candidates on LinkedIn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, a KPI like quality candidates per job opening can help you understand the number of qualified candidates\/unqualified candidates that apply for each open position.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If too many under-qualified candidates are applying, that might mean you need to diversify your sourcing strategy or revise the job description. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Simplifying your application and interview processes<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KPIs can measure things like application completion rate, which can let you know whether or not your application is too long or intense, if you\u2019re seeing a high drop-off rate throughout the application process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, KPIs like time to hire can offer insights into how long it takes to shortlist, interview and extend an offer to prospective employees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This can reveal bottlenecks in your process and help you improve hiring efficiency, giving your team a much-needed advantage in a tight talent market. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Measuring onboarding success<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KPIs like candidate satisfaction and hiring manager satisfaction can indicate how well-matched the new hire is for your company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If there&#8217;s a pattern of low satisfaction, this could indicate that interviews need to be more robust or sourcing techniques should be revised.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s also a good idea to track new hire retention rates and turnover as KPIs, which will demonstrate how successful a <a style=\"background-color: #ffd05f;\" href=\"https:\/\/jobadder.com\/gb\/placement-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">placement<\/a> was and how long they lasted in the position. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>How do you choose which KPIs to track?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A great KPI is like a compass, pointing you in the direction you need to go and helping you maintain course even if you get turned around on the way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you know what your business goals or strategic directions are going to be for the next year, working out KPIs is really about looking at the actions you need to take, and the tracking you should have in place so you can achieve them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The KPIs themselves are not your goals, they\u2019re the vehicle you use to hit the goals. A couple of characteristics of a great KPI are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The KPI is \u2018<a style=\"background-color: #ffd05f;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindtools.com\/pages\/article\/smart-goals.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SMART<\/a>\u2019. By this, I mean that it\u2019s specific, measurable, achievable or attainable, relevant and time-based. The SMART system is often applied to strategic goals, but it\u2019s just as appropriate for individual KPIs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s small enough to give your team a short-term \u2018win\u2019 so you all feel more inclined to stay focused on larger goals.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In recruitment terms, the most valuable KPIs are likely to be aligned with foundational business standards like candidate care, your company\u2019s NPS (<\/span><a style=\"background-color: #ffd05f;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Net_Promoter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">net promoter score<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) or your <a style=\"background-color: #ffd05f;\" href=\"https:\/\/jobadder.com\/gb\/recruitment-operations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recruitment workflow<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Do you really need KPIs?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> however you approach them, you DO need<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recruitment analytics<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and KPIs. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They keep everyone on track, help your business measure progress, analyse patterns over time and make obvious the adjustments your company or agency needs to make to solve small problems before they become big ones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Done right, KPIs should guide your business towards a better workflow, a higher level of candidate care and more candidates being placed in the right jobs.
