It\u2019s time to make some big changes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many construction companies are really struggling to adapt to more proactive ways of finding talent in the current candidate shortages we\u2019re seeing across the ANZ region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Australian Financial Review reported that demand for construction workers on projects was \u201cexpected to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afr.com\/companies\/infrastructure\/migrants-needed-to-plug-infrastructure-skills-gap-20211012-p58z73\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">about 48% higher than supply<\/a> over the next three years and that one-third of jobs advertised could remain unfilled&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many other industries use proactive sourcing like headhunting and talent pooling, alongside the traditional reactive approach of job posting, but I find that\u2019s often not the case in the building sector.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The construction and infrastructure talent acquisition professionals I speak to are all snowed under, there\u2019s loads of work to do but they\u2019re struggling to find talent and having to pay over the odds for average candidates.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Talent pooling is a crucial component of any construction company\u2019s talent acquisition strategy and those that do it well are giving themselves a distinct advantage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This proactive talent acquisition approach will help construction and property development companies to move quickly when sourcing and securing talent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By building and nurturing a strong blue-collar talent pool in your <a href=\"https:\/\/jobadder.com\/gb\/applicant-tracking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">applicant tracking system<\/a> (ATS), you can source candidates immediately, rather than waiting for responses from job ads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In our recent <a href=\"https:\/\/jobadder.com\/gb\/resource\/global-recruitment-staffing-industry-report-q2-2021-2\/\">global industry report<\/a>, we found that our in-house users saw significant differences in their days to place when sourcing candidates through external sources versus their JobAdder database.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Australian in-house users were taking an average of 41.2 days to place using external sources and 26.8 days to place when using the JobAdder database.
