A group interview is a stage in the hiring process whereby applicants are interviewed in groups for a given role and asssesed at the same time. It is an opportunity for hiring managers to gauge which candidates stand out and how they interact with each other in a competitive environment. A group interview can also speed up the hiring process and allow companies to introduce additional elements to the interview process that one-on-one interviews wouldn’t offer such as role-playing. An alternative version of a group interview is one where a candidate is interviewed by a panel which may consist of the role’s manager along with the hiring manager and other stakeholders.
