The term hidden job market refers to those roles that aren’t posted online or advertised elsewhere. These jobs are mainly found through perosnal connections, word-of-mouth or employee referrals for instance. With the recruitment process having a tendency to be lengthy and, to some employers, an expensive process, they prefer to by-pass this and rely on other sources as noted previously. Other reasons for not making an available role publicly known could include wanting to keep hiring decisions quiet until an official announcement can be made, such as with a new office opening.
