A pre-screen or screening interview is usually carried out by a HR team member or an agency recruiter to screen candidates prior to a main interview, in order to assess who should be put forward. It also provides an opportunity for the recruiter or HR representative to get to know the candidates better and test their cultural fit. This interview can take place either by phone or in person and, increasingly, via video technology. Pre-screening interview questions typically cover the candidate’s knowledge of the company they have applied to, their ideal work environment as well as their salary expectations.
