Cancer Council Queensland, began 60 years ago with the vision to support and alleviate suffering of those diagnosed with cancer and their families.
Through research, awareness, prevention and early detection strategies their staff and volunteers are working toward a cancer free future. Maintaining the core values and vision of Cancer Council Australia, operationally Cancer Council Queensland is independent in terms of hiring and HR.
The challenge: Handling high-demand in-house recruiting
Due to the nature of their work, including high-scale events and caring for those suffering the impacts of cancer, Cancer Council QLD has a relatively high turnover rate. Event departments and campaign and support teams all manage a heavy emotional and physical workload, so burnout can be an issue.
To cater for this, Cancer Council QLD needed a system to help them organise, track and store candidate and placement information efficiently and easily.
How JobAdder was able to help
Goodbye outlook, hello centralised hub
Prior to implementing JobAdder, Cancer Council QLD primarily used Outlook to manage applicants. The recruitment team would need to keep track of and manually manage incoming applications across multiple roles, filtering into one inbox. Storing and sorting candidate details and tracking the status of an open role was very time consuming.
With JobAdder, the team is able to sort and store candidate applications and information in one intuitive platform. Using this same centralised hub, they can also:
- Share shortlisted candidates with hiring managers (including links to candidate profiles) as simply as sending an email
- Quickly view resumes
- Assign tasks or track application statuses
Expanding their candidate reach
Using JobAdder, the Cancer Council QLD team is able to easily post to multiple job boards at once. This includes updating their own company careers page with just a few clicks.
With this functionality, they’re able to expand their reach when it comes to their candidate search, without the extra admin.
Up-and-running within 2 days
After establishing that JobAdder was the best solution for their organisational headache, it only took Cancer Council QLD a couple of days to get up and running.
“It was not a strenuous week by any stretch of the imagination, you could get up and running within 2 days,” said Cancer Council QLD People & Safety Advisor Jackson Keatinge.
Cut your admin and boost your recruiting efforts
Eliminating the time consuming task of sorting and chasing up statuses, Keatinge estimates using JobAdder has reduced key administration times by 50%. In addition, the use of JobAdder’s HiringManager portal has eliminated their tedious paper based job order process.
