For over 15 years, SMAART Recruitment has been supporting the hiring needs of the call centre industry, growing in recent years to encompass sales and marketing. With offices in four major Australian cities including Sydney and Melbourne, the team of 20 staff focus the majority of their work on bulk recruitment. SMAART’s clients range from SMEs to medium-sized enterprises across a wide range of industries.

The challenge: Outdated legacy systems

When SMAART was first established, the team originally used Excel and Outlook to manage candidates and job applications. However, as they grew, the need for a more robust platform was evident, leading SMAART to find JobAdder.

How JobAdder was able to help

SMAART partnered with JobAdder over a decade ago, and was a member of the beta testing team. Over this time JobAdder and SMAART have grown together as our platform has evolved.

Smart integrations for centralised recruiting

Through JobAdder’s marketplace of 100+ integrations, SMAART is able to plug and play and build a centralised recruitment stack that works for them.

“We’ve been able to onboard different tools from Referoo to TalentTap. At the end of the day, consultants spend up to 90% of their day on one platform so it’s been great that they can stay within JobAdder and access all these tools,” Maarten says.

Cutting ad spend with better candidate sourcing

Over the last few years SMAART has worked to depend less on posting to job boards, and focussed instead on making the most of their existing database. This not only saves significant time and admin, but also reduces spend on advertising.

Using this change of tactic through JobAdder, SMAART has been able to:

  • Reduce candidate sourcing from job boards from 80% to 40-50%
  • Improve candidate sourcing from existing databases from 10% to up to 50%

 Investing in more tools

Using the savings from reduced ad spend, SMAART is able to invest in other pieces of technology to help enhance their database.

“The key thing for us as an agency is speed to market. Often in the work that we do, we’re not only competing against an internal talent team, we’re competing against another agency. In bulk recruitment, it’s almost a case of ‘first in, best dressed’ so we don’t have days to get candidates through a job ad; it’s really a case of hours.”
